Sizes and Stock

Stock Garments

We carry an extensive range of stock in the common size ranges and popular colours, and normally have a pool of over 1000 garments at most times. This means we can usually supply most standard garments ex stock.

Common size ranges in inches

Men's Garments:

Waist: (28), 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46
Chest: 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48

Women's Garments:

Waist: 26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36
Bust: 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44

Figures in brackets are only standard in the 17th century range at the moment.
The pattern frames we use can accommodate over 85% of people within the measurements above. However, certain non-standard body shapes distort the pattern frame and require adjustment in the pattern. These cannot be supplied ex-stock.
Also, during peak demand in the summer season it is inevitable that certain sizes in some garments will sell out, or be very limited in colour range.

Pattern Modified Garments

Whilst the patterns used are remarkably tolerant of variations in the human form (particularly coats & cloaks for example), the "off-the-peg" option is out of the question for some. People who do extensive physical training disciplines (swimming, weight training, etc.) develop muscle features which distort the frame of certain garments outside of the standard pattern tolerance. Re-working patterns takes time and the garments must be tailored to specific constructions. Making individual patterns is a time consuming process, often involving trial mock ups to process. Hence the pricing is as follows:

Type A modification (sleeve length, body depth etc.):
All garments: £20.00

Type B modification (position of shoulder, thigh/calf ratio etc.):
All garments: £30.00

Outsize Garments

Outside of our standard stock range, we have prepared patterns for Waist & Chest(/Bust) sizes at one size (i.e. 2" increment) each end of our standard sizing. These garments only incur a Type A modification (see above) surcharge. Increments over one size are priced as Type B. Chest sizes of over 52" and waist sizes of over 50" are not really our remit and we can advise you of suppliers who will take on this sort of work.
